Hi, my name is Marcus Bornman, founder of The Track Team. For as long as I can remember having a passion, that passion has been track and field. But, I studied Computer Science, and have been a Software Engineer for a long time. So, in 2024, when I noticed that many sports (distance running, cycling, strength training, etc.) had training software so advanced that anyone could train like a professional athlete, but Track and Field had almost nothing catering to our sport, it lit a fire in me.
Very quickly my dream became to build for Track and Field what other sports already had: a training tool so advanced that it could help anyone train like a professional athlete. Whether you're a sprinter, hurdler, jumper, vaulter or thrower, The Track Team will cater for you as an individual, providing planning tools, recommendations, and insights, all geared toward helping you get the most out of your body. And so the work started.
Over the course of 2 years I used every spare moment I could find on building the initial version of The Track Team. Mostly I had to scrape together the minutes and hours during early mornings, late nights and weekends. I conceptualized, designed and wrote the code for feature after feature, often throwing away big chunks at a time, and starting over, my chronic perfectionism looking for the best ways to serve the Track and Field community that I love so dearly. Then, in April 2026 (3-weeks ago at the time that I'm writing this blog post!) The Track Team launched.
And so I'd like to take this opportunity to speak to any track and field enthusiast who may find themselves reading this blog post, firstly, to say thank you. Thanks for reading this far, but mainly, thank you for being a part of the sport that inspires me every day. The Track Team is by no means a final product. There will always be better ways to help track and field athletes get the most out of their training - from more instructive workouts, exercises and training plans, to integrating with fitness trackers, doing the heavy lifting for you, and making it as simple as possible for you to train smarter. The possibilities are endless.
For now, I cannot promise the world but I can promise this much: The Track Team will remain a tool created by track and field lovers, for track and field lovers. We will do our best to listen to the needs of athletes, and prioritize accordingly. If you're a user of The Track Team, know that you are what makes us tick! Always feel free to reach out and share your thoughts with us via the Support page - we would absolutely love to hear from you!
Let's find out where this story goes, together!
